CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOPS FOR DOHMH COMMUNITY PARTNERS
In response to increased interest from DOHMH Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health, TYTHE is invited to lead two virtual workshops for community-based organizations from across the borough. The sessions introduce placemaking and the power of arts and culture as a tool for community engagement and power mapping as a means of leveraging relationships to support organizational growth and outreach.
YOUTH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT WITH AFTER SCHOOL LEADERS
Partnership for After School Education invites TYTHEdesign to lead a virtual workshop for over 60 registrants around the value of empowering young people to take civic action in the world around them.
PRO BONO PUBLIC WORKSHOPS
TYTHEdesign offers two public-facing workshops free of charge–Incorporating Civic Engagement Into Youth Programming and Introduction to Placemaking for Civic Partners–with the intention of engaging with community and educational leaders across the civic, cultural, and arts sectors.
SHARED LEADERSHIP IN ACTION WITH CENTER FOR JUSTICE INNOVATION
TYTHE conducts an 8-part training with NYCHA residents and Office of Neighborhood Safety to support community leadership. Trainings included sessions on human-centered design, planning intentional stakeholder engagement, community-based planning, and facilitation.
NEEDS ASSESSMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION
To support Bronx Community College in an assessment of their Office of Career Development programming, TYTHEdesign is asked to develop a survey and implementation plan to reach students in-person and virtually.
NYC’S DOHMH STRATEGIC PLAN
TYTHE, in collaboration with A Good Question, is engaged by DOHMH to co-develop a Response Ready definition and set of blueprints to support the agency in reimagining their internal structure and operations to best support future crises. See the Strategic Plan that launched this initiative
BREAK THROUGH TECH ANNUAL MEETING
TYTHE designed and supported in the facilitation of the 2nd annual full-staff annual meetings. A 2-day event with sites from across the country – coming together to strategic plan, build capacity and share resources. BTT is a non-profit focusing on increasing the number of women graduating with computer Science degrees.
CS4ALL EQUITY REPORT LAUNCHES
With support from TYTHEdesign, NYC Public Schools’ CS4All Equity initiative releases its five-year report, detailing the initiatives and resources implemented to provide rigorous and equitable computer science education. This effort aligns with the New York State Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education framework and aims to address social disparities in the field.
NYPL INCUBATOR TRAINING
This New York Public Library program supports branch library staff in the development of civic-focused new programs at their locations. To ensure they take a human-centered lens, NYPL enlists TYTHEdesign to train participants in a collaborative process of design thinking focusing on prototyping rather than jumping to solutions.
THE NATURE CONSERVANCY: URBAN FORESTRY WORKFORCE TRAINING IN NYC REPORT
TNC releases a report, developed by TYTHEdesign, highlighting 36 NYC-based urban forestry programs and outlining challenges and opportunities for workforce development in the sector.
NEIGHBORHOOD TECH HELP LAUNCHES HYPER-LOCAL 1-ON-1 TECH SUPPORT INITIATIVE
In partnership with NYC’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the Brooklyn, New York, and Queens Public Library systems, TYTHEdesign kicks off the development of the Neighborhood Tech Help program aimed to bridge the digital divide and provide support to residents in need of tech support. The program is set to officially launch in the spring of 2025.
BRINGING YOUTH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT TO NYC AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS
Following a three-year partnership with the Department of Youth and Community Development as a TA provider, TYTHE’s focus on civic engagement for youth through intentionally-designed afterschool programming ultimately results in 32 workshops, over 400 participants, and over 60 unique resources designed for immediate application with young people.
DESIGN THINKING FOR NYCHA STAFF
TYTHE is invited to facilitate a two-day human-centered design training for the strategic planning department at NYCHA. The sessions are intended to bolster their capacity to approach challenges through an inclusive, creative co-designed lens.
IMPACCT BROOKLYN: COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT
TYTHE is engaged to gather community insights on IMPACCT Brooklyn’s programs, identifying opportunities for improvement to better meet the evolving needs of central Brooklyn residents and support their five-year strategic planning process.

NYC DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: TEACHING ENGLISH THROUGH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
DYCD expands TYTHEdesign’s civic engagement work to build the capacity of ESOL providers in New York City through a series of training workshops and resources to integrate civic engagement practices into adult English language instruction.
HEALTHY PLACES BY DESIGN
Acknowledging the work completed in collaboration between TYTHEdesign, East Harlem community conveners, Arlen Zamula and Caitlin Falvey, and Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, this interview shares the successes of the community Health in Action program.
FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS LAB
TYTHE collaborates with Alabama-based grantees, Alabama Appleseed, & Financial Health Network to co-develop solutions that support the financial independence of the reentry community. This webinar for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers across the country highlights relevant lessons and practices from this work, focused on ensuring ID access and financial literacy.
CENTRAL PARK CONSERVANCY: PROSPECT PARK ALLIANCE PARTNERSHIP LAB
TYTHEdesign is invited to collaborate with the Partnership Lab (a program of Central Park Conservancy Institute for Urban Parks) and Prospect Park Alliance (PPA) to address organizational challenges, develop strategies for equitable community engagement, and, ultimately, support PPA in developing an equity framework for their Community Committee.
THE HEALTH IN ACTION TOOLKIT
TYTHEdesign, in partnership with the Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health, creates and supports the distribution of the Health in Action Toolkit, a practical tool to operationalize and replicate HIA’s multi-faceted approach to enhancing neighborhood agency and capacity through participatory grant-making processes.

JOURNAL OF THE ACADEMY OF NUTRITION AND DIETETICS
The East Harlem Foodways project, a collaboration between DOHMH and TYTHEdesign, uses qualitative research and inclusive, multilingual engagement to understand and amplify East Harlem residents’ experiences and decisions around food shopping, supporting broader food justice advocacy in the neighborhood. This article features in-depth qualitative interviews conducted by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in partnership with TYTHEdesign as part of the Foodways Study.
NYC DEPT. OF HOUSING PRESERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT’S FLATBUSH AFRICAN BURIAL GROUND REMEMBRANCE AND REDEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT REPORT
The report is launched documenting a robust community engagement process led by TYTHEdesign in collaboration with the HPD, NYCEDC, LPC, and the FABGRR Task Force. It provides community priorities for honoring the site’s history, memorialization, and the development of affordable housing, in addition to a comprehensive presentation of the site’s history, and what the relationship between the FABGRR Task Force, the City Team, and the selected Development Team should look like as the project moves into its next phase. Most importantly, the report gives a voice to the community impacted by this process.
