Supporting Energy Efficiency Through Organizational Change

The New York State Energy and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) is a state-wide public-benefit corporation that offers information, analysis, programs, and funding aimed at helping New York become more energy-efficient and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. NYSERDA’s multifamily team shares that same mission but with an emphasis on multifamily buildings across the State. By collaborating with businesses, industry, government, and the public, they help reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Their approach is multipronged and broad. While this is often their greatest strength, the team is looking for new ways to streamline their strategies and more clearly hone in on their vision. NYSERDA brought on TYTHEdesign to lead a staff retreat for the multifamily building team with the objective of co-creating a roadmap for simplifying the way they work across initiatives, and ultimately, amplifying their impact.

.
OUR STRATEGY

TYTHE took a collaborative approach to planning the retreat, seeking the insights of the multifamily team to focus the retreat and shape its agenda. Using this collective knowledge, we planned a retreat program designed to capture each individual’s specific point of view and provide space for the team to work together on system changes and that will best serve their needs and goals. TYTHE facilitated the two-day retreat, guiding the team through a series of mapping activities, brainstorming, and discussions. TYTHE helped the participants organize their current programs along various clarifications, identifying points of connection between them, and prioritize actionable steps for improvement. TYTHE used all the information collected during the retreat to develop a roadmap document about the findings discovered created tools that can be used for continued organizational growth.
